PRAYER FOR REVIVAL
Text: Isaiah 62:1-7
Memory text:
“Will You not revive us again, That Your people may rejoice in You?”
Psalms 85:6 NKJV
Everybody needs revival to remain spiritually alive, just as the church. Like a lamp needs oil, so our hearts need revival to keep burning. Complacency is the commonest and most deadly enemy of spiritual progress. The only reason we don’t have revival is because we are willing to live without it. All great revivals, in the Bible days and after, began when some individuals or groups committed themselves to pray for it until it came. Habakukk prayed,
“O LORD, I have heard Your speech and was afraid; O LORD, revive Your work in the midst of the years! In the midst of the years, make it known”
“..Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known...” (Hab 3:2 NIV).
Jonathan Edwards, who led the first great awakening in US and UK said, “When God has something very great to accomplish for His church, it is His will that there should precede it the extraordinary prayers of His people.”
Prayer doesn’t just start revival, but it keeps the fire burning. Without prayer, revival becomes a memory instead of a movement. God can also use you to bring down the much needed revival of our times. As you pray, the revival will also begin with you. Let us pray these passionately:
1. Father, we confess our sins of complacency, lukewarmness, and spiritual apathy; let Your revival cleanse the church before it ever grows it, in Jesus’ name.
2. Father, let Your Spirit convict us of every hidden sin, pride and compromise, and rekindle our zeal for righteousness in Jesus’ name.
3. Father, stir deep spiritual hunger in us and let our hearts long for You more than comfort or convenience, in Jesus’ name.
4. Father, renew the joy and devotion we once had and let nothing compete with our love for You in us again, in Jesus’ name.
5. Father, revive us that we may rejoice in You again, not for our name, our church, ministry, or anything but for Your name’s sake alone, in Jesus’ name.
6. Father, heal divisions, offenses, and disunity among believers and let love and humility bind us together, in Jesus’ name.
7. Father, let revival quicken compassion in our hearts for the lost and move us to action in Jesus’ name.
8. Father, let revival become a lifestyle, not just an event, so our lives be a light that draws others to Jesus, in Jesus’ name.
9. Father, let revival begin with me, break what needs to be broken, heal what needs to be healed, and burn what needs to be consumed in Jesus’ name.
10. Father, teach me to carry the burden of revival in prayer and strengthen my hands to war in the spirit and my heart to stay burning until You pour out Your glory, in Jesus’ name.
Today’s declarations
1. I will pray passionately and persistently until the rain of revival is poured on us.
2. I may not be seen by crowds, but I am heard in heaven; I commit to watch and pray until dry bones live again.
